Our next steps

1.         Finalise and share a resource pack (framework, accompanying data spreadsheet and tools, case studies and templates)

2.         Continue aligning the framework with the final LGOF and emerging Best Start in Life key performance indicators

3.         Feed into the Common Outcomes Collaborative’s proposals for a nationally consistent core outcomes set with flexibility for local context

4.         Continue to work to influence policy leads across government departments (DfE, DHSC, MHCLG, Cabinet Office, DCMS etc) to explore alignment with wider mission-driven policy (early help, child protection reform, child poverty, youth strategy)

5.         Build and connect learning communities to support and accelerate wider adoption across regions and inform cross-government action

London boroughs are demonstrating how a common outcomes approach can act as a lever for system reform, strengthen multi-agency action, and support local delivery of government priorities. There is a significant window of opportunity for central government to embed this approach nationally as the backbone of Best Start in Life and wider children’s services transformation.
